I agree, the FS locks weren't the best thing in car security - particularly once the keys/locks were worn, but they were an advance on the previous FP series where most ignition switches seemed to have the required key number clearly etched into them .
All a would be car thief had to do was read the number on the switch, walk down to the nearest car parts shop and buy the correct key off the shelf!

A friend of mine had a moggy convertible, whilst you were out driving you could take the key out of the ignition and the engine would keep on running.
