Just done a rocker cover - preheated in the oven at about 80 deg for about 10 minutes, sprayed and then returned to the oven at 180 deg for another 10-15 minutes.
Came out well, but the house stunk for about 4 hours (or I got used to the smell by then
)

I just spray one or two thick layers on and then give it a good roasting with the heat gun. Always works.

Yep, heat. I shoot it and use a heat gun.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. And YES, I’ve cracked it and got some cracking crackle.

I used the heat gun technique. I can do that in the shed and avoid complains about a strangely smelling evening meal.

The carpet is down and the colour goes well. It’s looking more like the front room than the inside of a mini. I just have to check over the electrics then we can see if I can get some oil pressure. Can’t start the engine yet as I need an exhaust system.

I feel I should add an after market gear knob for that period feel. Any suggestions?

Sorry if I’ve missed it, but what steering wheel are you going to be using? It might be nice to match the gear knob to the steering wheel - wood/leather etc

I haven’t thought as far as a steering wheel. It rather depends on what I get for my birthday!

Andrew, yes I cut the carpet myself. I did the back to a paper template and wasn’t too happy. For the front I measured where the gear lever boot would go and cut in from a straight edge for that (a paint tin did nicely). I then worked from there with a sharp carpet knife under trimming to start with and refining later. It’s still a little oversize to left the carpet settle. I won’t fit the carpet clips until it’s had a chance to warm up.
I used a pvc backed carpet from Segal from their Jaguar range. This was quite useful as where the starter button bulge is, I warmed the backing with a hot air gun and was able to get a bit of shape into the carpet by holding it firmly in place as it cooled. It took a few applications to get much of a result but it has helped the carpet to sit a bit better. The PVC backing also makes for very clean and tidy cuts.

Just working through a few crazy ideas. Heated screen wash.

Hopefully the hose routing will keep the screen warmer too. It also increases the coolant volume a bit (which is why BL went to 5/8 hose rather than half inch). I’m not finalised on the hose routing to the tap yet until the servo is in.

i did this very thing back in the 70s ,the washer pipe round the heater supply pipes works well ,the only thing is the windscreen washer jets will still be frozen a bit first thing on a frosty morning but once the engine has warmed up ,the heat transfers up the washers pipes and frees it off , cheers kev

Today was not the day for messing about with sheet metal. Too cold, but none the less I was bored so had a go at a solution for the air filters. Feeling my way a bit but made a useful start.
