Here's a shot of the dash which shows the mileage on the day I got the car home in September 2008. Also note the position of the washer plunger.

Yes, why was the washer plunger on the wrong side???

Fitted the correct carb today and after a few mishaps with the fuel pump I finally got the car to turn over. After a few attempts to get it started the starter motor packed up. I stripped it down cleaned the bushes then replaced it. Now it works a treat but still no spark. might be the coil but any other ideas?

Three for the rear and the curved one is for the front seat belts in the centre.

Good news and bad news. The car started for the first time today, it sounded sweet! The bad news is that the water pump seems to be leaking quite badly, the vacuum advance unit spring to the distributor plate seems to be broken, and I have break or clutch fluid or something leaking into the car. any ideas???

That looks like engine oil leaking from the oil pressure pipe that goes to the rear of the gauge ?

By the way Dean if you need to replace the original fresh air heater hose (seems to be plastic now ?) you can get a repro rubber Mk1 type here :

New fresh air pipe came today it looks great but it's a lot stiffer than the original. Thanks Pete.
I also manage to get and original coventry radiator. Thanks Nick
