As far as I can see the headlining has been changed for a second hand cream crackle one, the roof painted black, badging changed (that boot script looks suspiciously bent - almost as if it were fitting into a different set of holes )...

I sold this car well,maybe not this actual car , it was a really mint tartan red and black cooper 998,mint Brocade original trim,original carpets ,hydro suspension ,it went to Cardiff area around 2010 ,I had the modifying bug at the time but this car was to original to mess with,I immediately regretted the sale and looked for it at all the shows and also checked regularly online but it was never taxed,I fear it’s now a Cooper S somewhere as this white car bears no relation / resemblance to the peach I sold apart from the reg number ,Dvla still shows it as red and last chance of keeper 2014

Ridiculous asking price for a non-running 998 Cooper with doubtful history isn't it. You have to be SO careful when purchasing these cars.

This really is a blatant case of ringing that even our friend in Norfolk would have been proud to do

Had the same with my late dad’s replica S Jfo 172, which we bought from Pete.
Chap who bought it was it turned out ringing a 970 S into it which I’d presumed happed eventually as JFO shows as SORN.
Last pictures I saw showed a blasted shell which it really didn’t need

And it started as a late 60 / early 61 850.

It's a right mix-up that car isn't it. Good for H&H for withdrawing it but It'll be on the market somewhere else no doubt

Hello! Apologies I'm not a Mini Cooper S enthusiast, however, registered on this forum as my late father Terry was and owned EBW 177B!! Unfortunately he sold it near to his passing on TheMarket (when perhaps not quite thinking straight!) despite me pestering him to keep it as he'd largely restored/built it himself and would have been nice to keep it in the family. So, this leads me to this forum as I often search for EBW 177B to buy it back (didn't spot the log book on ebay!) - based on the evidence here that seems really unlikely now, great that you spotted it though so at least I know whats happened to the car.

My Dad restored and very much built the car to his specification rather than a 100% correct replica. It featured in Classic Car Mart in 2009 (pics at link below) which might be of interest to some forum members as it details the build. He was a member of the Cooper club and by the looks of some of the banter on here would have loved this forum!! Anyhow, for what its worth I thought I'd give some background on the car before it got its new identity. It was a really fun drive and my Dad's build was to a fantastic spec - it spent the last 8 years or so with him whizzing round the largely empty roads of Normandy where he lived - perfect.

Hello…I was messing around on my iPad and came across an old forum discussion re AHY990B…..I bought this car brand new in late 1964 from shiner autos Lawrence hill Bristol…it was under £700….they were morris dealers….it was a 970s. Red with black roof….morris grill of course…and non hydrolastic….i kept it for 2 years and sold it to a friend in Bristol…..the 990 number was on other later cars I owned …990D 1275S…990G. MG MIDGET 990H. 1500 BEETLE….There was a group of us in the white horse motor club who always got 990 in the number plate….does the car still exist I would love to know….
