Nice work

Make a bracket that attaches to the steering column support bracket bolt. There's no damage to dash rail, parcel shelf rail, steering column shroud etc. Here's a picture.

Just read this post with great interest as I fitted my rev counter not long ago and also struggled with different methods before that.
Finally, I came up with this bracket with the advantage of no need to drill any hole, just use the same mountings for the steering column! Quite a neat idae!

I do like that solution Ted!

Yes Mark, I think drilling the shell is the last thing we like to do.

Going back through this older topic, there’s some excellent and unusual concepts to get inspired by. Though, for me yours takes the cake…!

I've been trying to find a pic of this in situ, but basically it is a steering column bracket reversed and fitted via longer bolts. The pod support base is almost a perfect fit - to clamp in the bracket,

The New South Wales Police here in Australia used unmarked Cooper S as pursuit vehicles back in the 60's and 70's. BMC Australia fitted a Smiths impulse tachometer to the right hand side of upper dash rail using the flat bracket that came with the kit.

Ha ha. That's the mannequin I made and dressed to make the display of my car more authentic. Get's lots of enjoyment and surprise, especially from the youngsters. I've rigged up the two-way radio in the car to play Police chatter through its speaker, which also adds to the realism.
