I would guess that at MOT time, you will have to ensure that all the standard fittings that should be present for the year of production - such as repeaters on the front wings - are re-fitted. We have to change the number plates back to the correct colour etc. on my sons 60's retro mini and fit temporary repeaters onto the front plastic arches to get the car through the MOT. Last year, the MOT tester was also muttering about the 10 inch wheel conversion with Cooper s brakes - so we will see what happens this year.

This '64 Mk1 has been on before.... always liked maroon B....

I like the look too, but as to how original it is, I do note the front panel has been replaced for example? Presumably had the rot removed at some point so good news on that score of course.

The "rare South African booted Mini 1000" is a South African MK3. About 3500 were made. None with that roof interior though!

His idea of a "matching numbers" car is obviously completely different to mine

Not ebay, but these both seem nice on the face of it and at fairly sensible prices....

The Mk2 isn’t a Cooper or an S at all, the GT is Stu’s old car isn’t it?

Yes it is. I sold it to Dave last September. He said he was going to sort some of the paint issues when he collected it from me.

The 1275GT is lovely - I very much like the Limeflower interior and the sunroof!

Thought I recognised the GT.

The Mk2 is still quite a nice car - from a dealer I don't think the price is too bad, even for a non-Cooper (not that I would buy it even if I did have that sort of cash to spend)

Just a quick question, why do you say it is not a Cooper S, isn't the dealer taking a risk selling it as one if it isn't

Now that's unusual - if it were black it'd be a proper stunner.

I like it though.
