Template for making flywheel-bolt access hole in innerwing?

Post by sandman »

Anyone out there got a location template or measurements for where to make a "flywheel centrebolt access-hole" in the RH innerwing?

I want to be able to torque up the flywheel centre-bolt with the engine still in the car.. and I've seen serveral other racecars with an access hole in the inner-wing, enabeling the use of a wrench and socket.

Btw, I have no engine or subframe in the shell so reference-points will have to be accordingly.
Cheers,

I'm not entirely sure how this would help, a socket on a torque wrench easily fits. A long extension through the inner wing will just make it more difficult IMO.

I suspect that the racer you have seen had the mod for an unknown reason. Maybe it was cheaper to cut a hole than buy a new tool?

I agree. It's much easier if the arm is a couple of inches form the bolt. At the most.

Thank you all for your thoughts, but this still does not answer my question/problem.
