Indicator Stalk Flasher

Post by Mk1Lover »

Just curious...

What minis were the indicator stalks with the flashing ends fitted to?

Were they fitted on all minis or just on Coopers etc?

Other BMC cars also sported very similar (the same ???) arms but sometimes with different coloured ends...

On a slightly unrelated note...

Could anyone suggest why my flasher only flashes in one direction? All external indicators work fine.

Hi Joss,
Remove the cover, move the arm to the position the light doesn't go in and try touching an earth wire from the column to the arm. If the light then goes, then the arm is not earthing. I solder a small earth wire from the switch body to the arm.

Regards
Al

My MK1 indicators works correctly to both sides. The bulb is OK, but it doesn't light. I've never dealt with these before, is this a known problem and an easy fix?

I've had a problem where the stalk wasn't flasing either way, it turned out that the 3rd pin on the flasher unit supplies the stalk, if you have a spare flasher give it a try

I have a related problem on a racecar I've built... the indicators will blink to one side... i.e the relay only works/blinks to one side (left), but both front and rear indicators are lit up when the switch is shifted to the other side... Some times the relay will blink one time or two when hitting the the right side too.

Any ideas?
Cheers,

Back on topic... :( ADO16's used them as well, at least early ones. I am not sure about later, 1970's era models as you seldom if ever see them were I live?
