nah

the fright of your life is when it comes out the back!

this happened to someone i know, it bashed the rack, the pedals and the guys left foot!

this is why all autograss cars now have a lump of steel bolted to the bulkhead in line with the flywheel ;)
please note, these are my own, individual sales, nothing whatsoever to do with my employer, minispares

If you do lighten it, also take the time to convert to LHD and only put people in the passenger seat you don't like.

My favourite urban myth (I'm sure it has never happened) is the old one about the entire flywheel/starter ring combo, sawing it's way through the driver's footboard and scything through the inside of driver's thigh severing femoral artery, death in 7 seconds, etc ,etc..... :o

Or just buy a proper lightweight version from any of the usual suspects...

It is indeed a South African car.

I too have heard many "stories" about flywheels exploding but to be honest that pic is the very first actual evidence I have ever seen of something like that happening.

YES, the S.A. built Austin Apache had such a block... :D
The one I´ve got in my S.A. Traveller is most likely one of those.
