Newton Commercial are superb. Their customer service is second to none. They have always delivered good quality items and will actively listen to their customers for feedback. Somebody else on this forum told me about a similar 'carpet' situation and they just dealt with it. :D Mark

I sell loads of their carpets and never have any problems with them

good set of lads as well, we stayed in the same hotel as them at the IMM and had a few beers with them

september 69, so pretty damn late! another give away is the boot opening in the rear bulkhead being lozenge shaped instead of round(ish)....
...well I checked mine ...its roundish instead of lozenge shape 9/68 build ..... so u learn something new everyday on this site .. foxy52

only the very late mk2's had the 'mk3' shape hole in the rear bulkhead

my blue mk2 was only slightly earlier than this one and it had the round 'normal' hole

although it does have the captive nuts for the wiper strap and a mk3 type motor

they also confirmed that within a year there will actually be a carpet available that vaguely resembles the original carpet type.... may still upgrade in the future!
You mean to say they're going to make some repro Veltone ? That will be an epic result if it happens. You have to applaud NC,they keep on trying to improve their products instead of the usual 'like it or lump it' approach.

I wonder if they will be able to get the smell correct

'damp old dog rubbed with 1960's vinyl and a hint of tobacco smoke'

i'll have a word with jonny n and see what he can do!

Looking good, did you have to re-stick the cover over the base on the bottom? Mines awfully saggy.. If so how did you do it?
I've got a 69 Mini with a 1046, Cooper Head and a four on the floor.

luckily the covers are in good nick and are not stretched. Even the foam is in pretty good condition. The car had been sitting since 1987 in a dark garage so use and UV have not managed to take their toll.....

All the clips fitting to the frame are in tact but some of the staples fixing the front underside to the wooden strip were rusted through so i added a row of new staples with a staple gun.

Not sure how long the seats, especially the foam, will last with renewed usage? Will have to wait and see.

Soft toothbrush and neat bleach, wiped off soon after was my cleaning method in general, with a little paint stripper locally on the areas where the previous red spray job had been very badly masked..... why didn't they remove the seats?

anyhow, looking acceptable now with a nice level of patina......

there was a bit of a hiccup and the car had to go back to the body shop due to the drivers door not shutting well enough...... that has now been dealt with so Coopers can press on.

the car was started for the first time in nearly 30 years today..........and here are some up to date pics of the engine bay as the car approaches completion.

unfortunately the delay due to the door fit has meant we have missed the window for peter baldwin's rolling road session and this has now been pushed back until the beginning of May! Oh well...... better than rushing the last bits and pieces......

i can barely wait!

It's the original colour..... Easy decision to make! But it is fairly unusual, and I like it a lot!
