1071 inlet manifold

Post by 360gts »

There was a thread on this but cannot seem to post to it.
I am standing here looking at my 1071 lump...the inlet manifold is a 12A 661 P and it has AEG 347 stamped on it.
Yes, it has the C C breather on my car.
Wondering about this stamping...I thought the original inlet had the 12A # ground off!!
Anyone seen this on their 1071 cars???
Cheers

The manifold you describe is more often associated with slightly later 1275 S engines, but it is conceivable that if your 1070 is a late one it could be its original manifold.

The original 1070 inlet would have been a 12A309 (ground off) & hand stamped AEG179

That is what I thought it should have...my car was built June 64...a couple of hundred cars after the positive ventilation was introduced. So, it would have to have a manifold with two outlets...servo and the crankcase venting. It is the same manifold that is on my two 1275 cars except no stamped #.

I would have thought they would have ground the 12A # off...maybe not!

Still too fine a file. To use the terminology of the time, use a ba*tard file. Probably called a full cut now in the new pc world.

The AEG347 seems to be correct for the closed circuit 970 and 1071 variants.
Here is a picture of the setup on my Aug 64 970...it is the same as the one fitted to my 1071 with the closed circuit system. The picture isn't all that sharp...it has 12A661 P cast on and AEG 347 stamped into the casting as well.
