Clutch suggestions
Just wondering on people's suggestions on a good useable clutch that will take occasional rally use and some spirited driving ...engine is a 1293 with moderate power (nothing too silly) and i'm quite sympathetic with standing starts etc

Re: Clutch suggestions
Only ever used an orange cover with a genuine plate with the solid centre. Never any trouble.

Re: Clutch suggestions
Same as above re the clutch set up. Rallied for 6 years with a semi short stroke motor and was very reliable.
Changed the plate regularly just as a precaution though.

Re: Clutch suggestions
I'd suggest a Blue one (stock Cooper S / 1275) for that spec of engine, I have one similar and another a bit warmer again and that's all that have used for a long time. I'd suggest not fitting a 'heavier' one than what's needed for the job, it only causes other bits to wear quicker.

Re: Clutch suggestions
+1 for std 1275 blue clutch diaphragm and plate for your spec and use.
I had a 1293 running fast road spec and was getting some clutch slip at about 3000rpm. Turned out that the previous owner had put in a green clutch diaphragm spring (this is the one for the 998 mini). Refitted a blue and have not had any problems since.
Would not put in anything heavier than absolutely necessary, as the heavier pressure can give the crank thrust washers a hard time.
