Wheel ideas?
Wonder if any of you guys can help. My 60's racer currently sits on a set of lovely 7.5x10 MB split rims. Now although I think they look and perform fantasticly I am starting to think I'd much prefere some wheels that are a little closer to the correct period.
I need a wheel that is between 7 and 8 inches wide. I'm spoilt for choice when it comes to modern split rims but not something from the 70's.
Any ideas what I could look for? I'd love a set of 8x10 mambas but i'm guessing they are a little hard to find!
Any help would be great.

Re: Wheel ideas?
How about getting force racing to extend the width of mambas to 8x10 ... Ken

The 70s 7.5" Mambas were 2 wheels machined and joined together with screws. Unfortunately the screws weren't strong enough, well not the threads in the alloy. So the wheels pulled apart when off the car with inflated tyres. So you had to fit the wheels and then inflate the tyres. So most of them disappeared for that reason, probably hen's teeth now.

I'll be opting for 19.5x7.5x10 Hoosier slicks I think. Hoosier recommend a wheel of between 7 and 8 inches wide. Failing that, it'll be the usual Dunlop.
I have been considering Force racing but thought they look abit "bling". Maybe if I flated the outer rims etc they would look better perhaps.

They were no problem once on the car with the wheel nuts done up. Have you ever inflated a tyre to 45psi with a foot pump?Oldskoolbaby wrote:I'll avoid those then!ivor badger 2 wrote:The 70s 7.5" Mambas were 2 wheels machined and joined together with screws. I think you will be restricted to 7 x 10 revolutions from an old miglia, wider stuff does exist but tends to have come from single seaters - there is a bloke called Dermot who often has odd stuff for sale on the uphill racers website - so he might be worth a look
I think 8 x 10 mambas will have come from a terrapin at a guess

Yes, + taking it in shifts. One problem you don't consider is that the hose gets so warm it comes off the pumprich@minispares.com wrote:ivor badger 2 wrote:45psi with a foot pump?
