Morris 1966 850
Thought I'd try and upload some photos again. 3rd time lucky!
Bit of history; this mini was given to me after being garaged for around 25 years. No cash handed over! She had an older sister ('63 850), which my brother got. Keep it in the family
As the car was complete and all standard, I have decided to keep it as close to standard as possible, even (unfortunately) the wet suspension.
This is my second mini, but first resto job. Thoroughly enjoyed it and can't wait to get it on the road. Aim is the end of the year (to be road worthy, not actually allowed out!).
Anyway, thoughts and comments are welcome. Would like to know what you think.
Cheers,
Joel

Looks like you had a really solid base to start with and the hydro suspension is fine even if you can get a little seasick at times.

Few more pics. This time of the engine, from cleaning and before fitment. Foolishly didn't take many during the rebuild...

love that photo of them both 'asleep' just waiting to be found!
I think we all would have liked to have thrown that garage door open!

I'm liking the matching steels / seat colour combo. I hope you're keeping that!

Not keeping those red rims! Need to check what the original colour was, but presuming it is the white steels with chrome hub caps (not sure which caps are right as I have 4 sets!).
The two minis were at the back of the garage, there were subframes, engines, motorbikes,l awn mowers and beds to move before we got there!

What a cracking project!
Looks like you managed to get a real cracker of a car to start with & it is really starting to look great again.
Roll on the end of the year.

Ok, bit of a while since I posted an update, but a few photos of the progress. Aimed for the end of the year and looks like I might just squeeze it in!
Bit of 'sailor's trouser' door on the driver's side, but not as bad as it was previously.
Like a bit of feedback on the grill. Not seen many of these grills before and I'm pretty sure it didn't come from this car. There were two and a half minis in the shed I got it from and mine didn't have any grill on it. Comments appreciated...
Cheers,
Joel

Great progress.
The grille looks right for the year of the car. It is a "Morris" one.

What a great little car - a lucky find indeed! You have the correct grille. The correct hubcaps would be the type fitted to the blue car in the first picture - the ones which cover the whole wheel. Your car being a Super Deluxe. It would also have had overriders and the little corner bars fitted to the bumpers originally.
A have a Tartan Red Morris Mk1 very similar myself which is largely original still. They are great fun cars and feel quicker on the road than you might expect even with only 850cc As you suggest, the wheels should be off-white.
I bet you can't wait to get it finished!

Cheers. Nice to know the correct hubcaps too as I've gota few sets and didn't know which to fit.
