Mounting Boot and Bonnet Badges

Post by roxorboxor »

Hey Again,

I was wondering how to install these badge to my car. I saw there are plastic inserts for some and metal rings for others? In my case I will be putting a mk1 Morris bonnet badge up front and the Morris 850 boot badge in rear.

I can provide pictures if this is confusing.

Thanks again everyone

That does help. I'm also wondering about the plastic slugs themselves. Do they fit inside the drilled hole with the badge pin fitting inside them, or do they sit completely interior to the panel with the badge pins poking through the panel and into the slugs? Are they snug enough to use without any glue or such?

They are a push fit through the holes in the bonnet and boot and the badges then push into them.

Provided you get the correct ones, they will be a good fit both into the panel and the badges into them with no need for any glue. I'd use a bit of cavity wax around the inserts to help them slip in a bit easier :o

Probably covered in the link to other thread, but for the Morris bonnet badge I used the metal rings, and the little plastic plugs to hold on the Austin bonnet badge (which was a repro and useless, but as I was using it on my rally Mini I wasn't too worried).
The rear badges are all held on using the plugs. As far as locating them, I stuck masking tape to the rough location of the badge, and then with some paint on the lugs I pressed them against the tape in the location (after measuring 20 times to make sure it was right), then simply drilled on the paint spots.

Sorry, my mistake, the Morris bonnet badge is held on by two metal clips.
