Plans / blueprints for Chassis kart / trolley..

Post by sandman »

I'd like to build a chassis stand wih wheels so I can move a bare chassis around the workshop etc.

Seeing there's no point re-inventing the wheel... does any one have any good 'blueprints' for building this. Pref. one that will support the chassis at the front top subframe mounts on/under the bulkhead and at the rear shock mounts...

Thanks for your help!
Cheers,

I haven't got any drawings for this one as I made it on the fly but a set of castors could easily be added to make it mobile.
The rear bolted through the top damper mounts

You can see the front bars using the standard subframe mounting bolts

I also made a simple pair of legs that bolted to the damper mounts (I added a cross brace as well). I style meant I could fit the front frame to a painted shell without having to put axles stands on the body.

Here's some pics of mine , similar to Tupers, and dimensions.

I made mine out of 2" square tube , dimensions are 48" X 80" for a sedan and 48" X 84 for my traveller.
All 4 upright pieces are 24" with bolts welded to the top to bolt through rear shock mounts and front bulkhead tower holes.
Let me know if any more info is needed .
Hope it helps :D

This is exactly what I was looking for.

What wallthickness is the 2" tube? Any problems with tube-flexing if you crawl inside the shell?

How long are the front and rear legs?

Many thanks,

Ed,
thickness of the tube I used was .125 or 1/8"
No flexing at all while climbing inside or loading up with various "bits".
All four legs are 24" long .The rear legs have 5/8" ready rod ( all thread ) welded to the inside and pass through the rear shock mount holes.
On the front I used a Mk IV tower bolt welded upside down with a large washer on to the top of the 2" tubing.
I based this design on one I seen in a book showing the new mini shells on rolling stand. I'll try to find those pictures .

Cheers
