windscreen rubber

hi all, is it advisable to use the later wider screen rubber or not? is the extra width taken up on the screen or the body?

Avoid. it looks horrible and capillarys water onto the screen apperture
Have a look at mpi and spi minis scuttle panels RUST meaning an
expensive repair

Totally agree, I remove these rubbers, and replace them, with the original type, when a Mini comes to the garage,
with one of these terrible things fitted :roll: I still wonder why Rover ever fitted them?? rust traps thats what they are.
and yes they look awfull :x

I thought MPI's rusted because the didn't put any paint on them.

They do :? but that flat/wide rubberseal, create a space, becourse it sit ON TOP of the recess

in the body, that are made to fit the old narrow rubber,

so condensation starts in the small space, and REALLY speed up the rust process :roll:
