Does this help? I don't know where the photo came from, so my apologies to the photographer if I'm out of order posting it.

The late works 850s had the speedo moved to in front of the navigator.

Was the speedo aftermarket or from another BMC model ?

I am sure it is an aftermarket speedo, probably from Smiths, I can't think of any other BMC car that had a speedo like that, I was thinking possibly MG, but nothing like that comes to mind. Also the one in the works 850 had magnification segments on the odometer & trip. (so I'm told!).

Of the eight official works cars (well number plates) (there were more than eight cars!) I don't know of one to survive. However as we know these cars were dispersed in different directions and some were converted to race cars by privateers, Don Moore had an especially close relationship with the works so he had one or two, ditto John Aley etc.
