Instrument bulb holder - Temp & oil pressure gauge

Post by lwarrine »

Trying to find the correct bulb holder for the Smiths Temp & Oil pressure gauge on a Mk1. Anyone know where you can get them?
Is the part number 13H1927 for this ?.
Thought they'd be easy to find .... As presume fitted to all smiths gauges, but seem to be struggling! ... Most places just seem to offer a modern plastic alternative.
Thanks.

I bought some from Mini Spares recently, not sure if that's the P/N they use though.

I have not found anyone selling the original type bulb holder. I have found that the generic, aftermarket gauges often use a bulb holder that can be partially inserted into the Smiths gauges. The replacement wiring harnesses I have seen typically use the blade-type bulbs like you would have on a modern car. Of course, you can also get the proper bulb holder off of a used wiring harness/loom from almost any British car from the 1960s. I always save old harnesses for bits like that and to have a supply of the correct color coded wires.

I always just go on ebay and buy 'bundles' of second hand ones when I need them

my gtm had none, and it was a real pain as the triumph clocks used one of very shape and size!

the new ones are plastic and use the push in bulbs
should you wish, you can contact me on rich@minispares.com

Thanks for all the replies .... I think the best option I have found so far is;

Bulb holder 558 - metal body, single wire and takes the screw in MES / E10 bulb.
