Mk1 Carpet Question

Hi

Can anyone tell me if the piece of carpet behind the heater between wheel arches on a Mk1 was originally glued straight to the bulkhead, or did it have underfelt stuck in place first, then carpet.

Underfelt / soundproofing first then carpet.
