Hey folks
Is there anyone on here any good at FE and BMK numbers?
I have a 1961 Morris Mini Minor deluxe, according to BMH it's build date was 8-9 June 1961 and was first registered in July 1961.
It has a few early features but what interests me are the sills, it has the early flat sill and the inlets inside the car which suggests the one piece floor, also has the large foot well indents.
I thought this was a bit late for these features and was wondering if the BMK and FE numbers tie into an earlier date
FE 17387 C
BMK 62096
Thanks in advance for any help

Re: FE BMK numbers
I have a record of BMK 54***, FE 142***, chassis 64*** on an April 61 Morris mini.
Whereas I'd estimate FE 17387 to be April '60.
I hope this helps.

Re: FE BMK numbers
Are you sure the "C" in "FE 17387 C" isn't a 6 ?
Of course, that would make it a 1961 shell.

Re: FE BMK numbers
A brilliant picture. The C could a zero, if the spot welding person on the line hit that digit when sqeezing the trigger.
Am I imagining there's a dent at that point ?
That would be quite consistant with mid-61 but, as you say, other features of the shell are not consistant with mid-61.
Trev and Bill are the 59 experts. In case you haven't already, check your early features with the wiki on the 59 Register web-site.
Are you going to Stanford Hall in the car ? T & B are likely to be there.

Re: FE BMK numbers
Your FE Number 173870 is spot on for the build date of 8 June that you quoted.
The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who do not possess it.
