As the title lads....... basically does anyone know this car,is it still out there, has it been scrapped, restored anything you have on this car.....Why you may ask ? Well Im working with the gentleman who campained the car in hillclimbs..George Howarth he ran it in Partnership with a chap called Terry Yates, and it was an ex manchester police cooper s ..modded with split 40?/45? webbers amongst other mods...
Here's a piccie to jolt the memories...its at a hillclimb at Bating's Dam,which was up the narrow twisting waterboard access road for the dam..
Thank's Mick

Re: does anyone know this car ? ?
I'll have to scratch my head because I think that I should know it ! It's definately an ex Liverpool Police car , I started hillclimbing at places like Baitings Dam in about 1992, that photo looks a tad older than that? I used to have an ex Manchester Police car and I also seem to remember rally car kicking about that was also ex Manchester rozzers?

It had the zipped roof lining Pete ,
And it was set up by Harry Rattcliffe ?/Radcliffe on his rollers..this photo may have been taken in the mid to late 80's...there is also a Yorkshire connection with the car as it once belonged to the chap who owned/published the Craven Herald newspaper (Skipton Area ?)

Re: does anyone know this car ? ?
If memory serves, this car was either featured in the MCR magazine a few years ago or there was a picture of it taking part in a road run? Definitely that car though and I'm talking late 90s early 2000s.
Cheers. Tim

Re: does anyone know this car ? ?
Terry Yates has/had a business down the road from where I worked back in 97/98ish. He was a customer of mine and I had my smoke grey 1070 (first time round!). He had under the bench a complete MK1 S eng/box which I bought off him, he had bought it off Rallyspeed who had been in Burnley back in the day. Thin flange block with eng tag etc, 177 rods , std/std 316crank, mint 163 head etc Bloody hell to find that now, still got the block, or rather my dad has

Re: does anyone know this car ? ?
Was it ACTUALLY 569 FMO in those days Steve? Rallyspeed used to sell tons of juicy Mini bits in the back of the motoring mags in the late 60's. I'll scan one in when I find one.SMOKE GREY wrote:Big on the tuning/race/rally scene round here in the 60's, campaigned 569FMO for a time.northern monkey wrote:George mentioned rallyspeed more than once in connection with this car....I am ashamed to say that I do not know much about them..
