1982 2-speed 110deg Wiper motor uber-geek required!

Post by YMJ »

OK, I am trying ro re-engineer a two speed motor to make it the best-wiper-motor-in-the-world, etc and need to know something about the main gear and it's shaft.....there are two bushes on the shaft that run in the actual gearbox housing - one (the lower one) is free to rotate on the shaft and the other, well.....doesn't.
I've had it soaking diesel for a month and it still will not budge. Or is it not supposed to rotate on the shaft anyway????? :?
Cheers

there are no bushes on the gear when you buy a new one

so I guess they should both rotate
should you wish, you can contact me on rich@minispares.com

Like to see if you could make them work better

I've always thought alot of the issue with the is the wiper boxes causing drag

what about a defender wiper motor? they work well and it look like its uses all the same parts

Defender? As in Land Rover? Have you got a part number?
I've just completely stripped de-corroded, lubricated, re-brushed and rebuilt my motor, wired it up and it looks and sounds as laboured as ever, especially at low speed. The wires get hot too!
