My Austin 1300 is making an odd noise...
Engine idles well, and sounds sweet when revved.
However...
Driving it seems to make a whirring clicking noise.... Like when you put cards in your bike spokes as a kid....
Only seems to make the noise at 30mph or above, regardless of what gear you are in....
Any ideas!?
Bearings are recent.

Re: Odd noise...
Worth checking if clutch up, clutch down makes any odds.
My fest guess would be broken up rubber couplings in the drive line. They make some funky rubbing sounds in my experience

I've got a 69 Mini with a 1046, Cooper Head and a four on the floor.

Re: Odd noise...
I had one like this for nearly a year (I don't drive it too often) and after changing the wheel bearing (which looked OK), checking everything else while I was there, about 8 months ago, to no avail, I found the one of the welds on the rim had a crack in it.

Re: Odd noise...
Interesting ideas guys!
Won't be the clutch or fan, as the noise isn't there when the car is still and idling, or still and being revved...
The rubber x's have been replaced recently, along with the bearings... I'll check the cvs next... And the rims!!

I did wonder the speedo gears, but if you have the window down, you can hear it outside the car....

If its got hub caps on it try taking them off, they can creak.
