Sill replacement

Post by rolesyboy »

Hi All. I am looking for tips on replacing Mini sills. I need to do inner and outer along with door steps and lower rear quarters. Not done this for years now and trying to avoid doing this in a cack handed, get covered in grinding sparks/weld spatter way.
What is best neatest method or removing sills? Thin cutting disc? Air hacksaw? Plasma would be nice but nobody seems to rent them.
When fitting the lower rear quarters what would be the best plan of attack. I am thinking distortion? Butt welding? Joggler and spot weld??
Any good advice appreciated as ever. Cheers. Mark

If you are doing inners & outers together. Use the M-Machine inner & outer to the first floor flute panels. they are brilliant & reduce the amount of tricky welding greatly.

I usually use 1mm angle grinder disks for cutting out, they don't last very long so you need loads but they are very neat.

I try to avoid body work nowadays, so will leave someone else to give chapter & verse.
