Came across this online and thought it might be of interest, looks to me to be no recess around the rear window so could be a very early Mini, what do you think, I also love the cross ply tyres.

I believe she is rotting somewhere near the Sharpness canal, just up channel from this photo. I've looked on DVLA and they hold no records for that reg.

Nice!
I love cross ply tyres too (how they look at any rate, not their road holding) so put a set on my Mk1, just look so right!

Great picture!
I suppose any early Mini which spent time near the water has long rotted away....
As for crossply tyres, it's over 40years since I last used them on a Mini. I didn't have much money at the time so went for the cheapest tyres. Big mistake - it drove dreadfully and I wore them out in 1500miles

Re: Mini at Aust and Severn Bridge.
sent the pic to my old man, as he lived locally then and does now plus, being in freight, had a lot of involvement in the bridge over the years and this is what he said
"Good picture for the time. Summer '64 or '65. Interesting to see the bridge under construction. Looks like the cables had been spun. That took months and months. No deck sections been floated in yet."
Niall.

I bet the people who paid for the boat in 1959 where gutted when the bridge started to be built - I bet they thought they where going to be earning a living from it for years, when it must have only lasted for ten years or so - I wonder if they even paid it off!
