Brake pedal swap in situ

Post by tomkidd »

How do folks

Is it possible to swap a brake pedal over without taking the entire pedal box out? I mean the entire arm and pedal and not just the end of the pedal.

it can be done, but wrangling the spring back into position is such a foul job that its quicker to take the pedal box out (or so ive found!)

I guess oyu can try, and if you don't do it you can then take the box out?

I did this lastweek after reading about pedal differences. I did it in situ using long nose pliers to manover the spring and just the usual hassle with the clevis. And i removed drivers seat so i could lie down looking up.

I had a bash at this last night and it looks like I am getting somewhere... I'll post up a photo in my build diary.

I have come across another issue now though in the fact that the clevis pin hole in the pedal doesn't match up in size...

that's because the pedal you are using must be off a late served car..........

Would an early servo car pedal be better? See my build thread...

A earlier servo'd brake pedal would be a 'S pedal, you need a non servo brake pedal from later disk braked model (hexagonal).
