Does anybody know at what point the MK 2 '1000' badge was introduced. I have a late Mk 1 Morris Cooper which is fitted the later Mk 2 type bootlid. I am not clear if this has been added after it was manufactured or at the factory. I intend to retain the Mk 2 bootlid as it is a good one.
I would like to know if it should have the '1000' chrome script on the lower right side of the lid? I suspect not but dont want to drill new paint unnecessarily. Thanks in advance. Mark

The later boot lids were fitted to the last Mk1's i think Mark at a round about '67' so your boot lid could well be correct. Not sure about the lettering though.

As has been suggested, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that your MK1 was fitted with a MK2 boot & badges at the factory, but it has to be said it is far more likely that it was swapped later in the cars life.

Virtually all Mk1s manufactured in 1967 had the double skinned 'Mk2' type bootlid and would have been fitted without any engine size script.
