Shorrock C75B mini fittment

Post by Rusty old S »

Just contemplating which mini engine to fit on aC75B supercharger ,luckily I have a few cars that I could fit it to, a 998 cooper, a 1071s or even fit 1100 crank and rods to the cooper block. I am aware that 1275cc will not work so well unless you gear up the pulley to get in the volume . I know 8 to 1 CR is required, and smoke on start up is normal, plus the frequent belt slip. Well boys and toys !!! . Any input is welcome .

I'd say 998 Cooper, because the smaller engines gain a bigger benefit. Mine's an overbored 850 (to 910cc) and works very well. Overspeeding is a bad idea because the C75B starts to destroy itself if held over 6000rpm. The input shaft bends and eventually breaks, and the vanes start to scrape the casing. It's best run at engine speed if you want it to last.

Belt slippage isn't a problem if you use a modern six-rib polyvee belt. Derek Chinn, famed supercharger expert, can make pulleys for you as he did for me.

...if you haven't already. Good luck - it's a great conversion once it's all working properly.
