No, it's Polyeurethane open cell foam which comes in sheets from GRP suppliers for pattern making (or to make surf boards). The most important thing is that it doesn't react with filler, unlike lots of cheaper sheet insulation boards.
You shape it with a carving knife, rasps and sandpaper, and you can glue it together with filler, or use very course wood screws
It gets everywhere, you need a mask, and it's not cheap. Apart from that, it's great!

yup, and they sell everything you'd need to fill in an '80s glass sunroof, in case you were wondering?

aye, I know...
one of my 'eyesores' has received quite a lot of body mods care of the 'magic of grp'

actually, the sunroof in the gtm was very useful the other week, when the heater matrix burst and emptied the entire contents of its cooling system onto my legs...
im sure the neighbours thought I was been propelled along in some sort of steam powered contraption due to the fairly decent head of steam that was venting out of it

Re: 1000cc spaceframe clubmans racer
It seems I've been over thinking it......
I cut off the filler neck last night and made a start on the bonnet bulge, and it's looking much better. Not 100% there yet, but getting closer.
And as I stood looking at various options for getting the oil in, I suddenly had a thought - why not just bang a pipe straight into the sump with the cap on top? It's not as though I'm tight on space in the engine bay.
Sometimes you miss the obvious solutions just because they are so, well, obvious!
full steam ahead (as Rich says when out in his GTM)

Re: 1000cc spaceframe clubmans racer
Got the hump with it tonight.......
My goodness, you need a big lump to cover a Weber or twin SUs when you drop the bonnet line so low (I'll reduce it a bit at the edges, but the height is pretty fixed)

Underside of the nose next, and the strengthening flutes from the side of the nose up to the bonnet area.

at a guess, no......... (and no)!

(unless one defines 'finished' not as completed, but rather getting it to the point of profit...........)

You missed a trick, If you are working at an art college you could have taken the car in as a class poject.

Re: 1000cc spaceframe clubmans racer
well, I have noticed rather a nice fish mouth cutter amongst the 'toys' in the metal working shop, and yes, there is pretty much all the facilities I'd need to make a car.
Not sure if this car would establish my credentials as the 'safest' of H&S Officers though......

can you not extend the top lip of the front to make it look more like the shark nose Ferrari?
that would look great!

I can do anything, Me!
But, it'd need to be a lot more pointy to look good, and I'm not sure it would look good on the wider body - there was a F3 car in the mid - late '60s, a Tecno, I think with a divided front inlet but shorter and it looked Sh*t.
