valve recession?
I have an original 163 head where the valves are quite deep. Top of valve heads are flush with the combustion chamber. Is this too deep? Any problems with this? Thanks

Re: valve recession?
I assume that this is after the seats have been cut?
They will be fine, it is only when they pocket down below the combustion chamber floor, then you would need to go to the next oversize valve ( which can be a challenge with a Mk 1 's' head.
Thanks
Ian

Re: valve recession?
This will cause the valve to be shrouded, as it starts to open, and before closing.
-This will cost power
-it's the same as fitting a lower performance camshaft...

Re: valve recession?
Thanks for the replies. I figured the head was done for. The machine shop set them all at the same height... bummer!
