1960 mini with a 1275 A from Austin America.
Reassembling engine after strip down and rebuild. Radiator was unrepairable and binned. New radiator is approximately 2 inches smaller in width than my 2 piece cowl. Looks like the previous owner left the Austin America radiator and shroud in place. I always wondered why the top radiator outlet was at the rear of the engine bay vice the front.
By looking at the photo do you think that the one piece mini cowl will fit this type of lower mount? I am aware of the alloy adaptor and bracket but the one I have installed looks like it would work also. In some of the diagrams at Somerford site this bracket (part number 22A30) is shown with the one piece cowl. Does the bracket look to be in the correct position with reference to the crank pulley? Can anyone confirm whether or not this will work with the one piece cowl?
Thanks,
Keith

Re: Lower Radiator Bracket
I believe that mount will work with the one piece cowl. It will definitely work with the 1960 onwards 2 piece one. The piece bolted to the top with the long bolt through it isn't correct though, it needs to come off then there's an angled bracket that goes between the mount and the cowl.
The pressed steel mounts are very prone to cracking, which is why they were replaced with the later alloy ones. The couple I have are both welded up.

Re: Lower Radiator Bracket
If your '60 still has the built in cowling on the inner flitch panel, you're not going to want to use a one piece radiator shroud.

Re: Lower Radiator Bracket
The mounting as shown in your photo is exactly identical to the one on my 1981 Mini, so the one piece cowl will fit, but as cheleker has said, be aware of clearance problems if your Mini still has the built in inner wing cowl.

Re: Lower Radiator Bracket
Thank you all for your help. Inner cowl has been removed from fender so I'll be sourcing a one piece cowl and fixings.

Re: Lower Radiator Bracket
What I said above may not apply if you are referring to the later one piece cowling. I was thinking about the 1959-60 one. I don't have any experience with the Rover one.
