Re: 1098 MIDGET CRANK / FLYWHEEL HELP
Isn't that just from an early 1098 Sprite/Midget before they changed to 2" mains?
The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who do not possess it.

Would the 1098 Sprite engine not have a 4 bolt flywheel fixing?

Re: 1098 MIDGET CRANK / FLYWHEEL HELP
Long time since I had one but that was my belief. In fact I'm not altogether sure that the later 2inch main had a 6 bolt flywheel either? I know I have a 4 bolt flywheel here which looks the same as a 1098 Minor one but has a larger centre hole and the 4 bolt holes are further apart......I assumed, possibly wrongly, that it was off a 2inch main engine

Re: 1098 MIDGET CRANK / FLYWHEEL HELP
It certainly is a mystery, 948 & 1098 Midget engines had a 4-bolt fixing, 1275's had 6 bolts & 2 offset dowels. However, I have just been searching around & find that there was a 1098 Midget / Sprite crankshaft with 2" mains, so I wonder if there were any smaller ones floating around with 'prototype' 1275 flywheel fixing. I guess the only way to prove or disprove that is to see if the 1275 flywheel will fit.

Re: 1098 MIDGET CRANK / FLYWHEEL HELP
There is a 2" main 1098 crank on ebay at the moment and that has 4 bolt fitting .
Checked the stroke on the one I have and it,s 3.300" .
A 1275 6 bolt midget flywheel will fit.
It,s brand new , still in protective oil / wax

that would make sense, as a commercial would have a heavy duty clutch in it maybe?
mind you, it would need it with a powerhouse 1098 engine in it!!!
