What seats?

I have a 1963 Cooper. The seats have been removed, some other non-Mini seats installed. The holes for the seat brackets have been welded over. Not sure what brackets to install, I did buy the later brackets with the three top holes, not installed yet. The question is what do the original seat mountings look like? I was given seats that do not have the flat steel parts that fit into the brackets. The seats I have, have the round seat tubing going forward with a nice sweeping bend and a hole at the bottom. No flat brackets. I have several of this type of seat. I am considering welding a flat steel into the forward part of the seat, to fit into the brackets. What seats and brackets should this car use? I now understand how the seat fits and brackets needed. When did the Mini go to the newer type seat and bracket? M-Machine lists the brackets as not available. Only one seat was adjustable? Might weld small flat steel parts on the lower front of the seats to mount in the newer brackets, or? Ideas? Thanks, mr.lotus

if you have to make up a bracket you might be as well copying the original to fit the seats. Here is a picture which might help.

I am not sure when the seat bracket changed but some one here will.

Fairly sure these tube type seats were only 850 up to 60 or 61 maybe?

So a 63 cooper 997? would have the other style bracket bolted to the front of the crossmember part 11.32.03.05 in the M-Machine Catelogue..
