Re: Where is John Lennon's Mini?
Unlike the other 3 whose locations are well known, I understand that ownership of John's car is disputed.

Re: Where is John Lennon's Mini?
I posted a few questions on fb regarding the Beatle Mins.
Apparently the Lennon Min have been spotted in the Dublin area.
Same poster say the Nesmith (Monkees) Min still lives in UK.

Lennon's mini as i recall is in Japan, it went there after my friends parents sold it. When they bought it they were unaware it was his, they just wanted a tidy cooper s as a runaround, and when they got the logbook it had the record label's name on the logbook.

Re: Where is John Lennon's Mini?
...I would take that with a pinch of salt Jens !!!!....3 copies of Mike Nesmiths.s mini will probably pop up withing the next 10 years !!!....i would think that one would still be in the U S A..having been exported in 67... or "popped down to Rio"...as per the song eh ?!....rgds foxy52JC T ONE wrote:I posted a few questions on fb regarding the Beatle Mins.

Re: Where is John Lennon's Mini?
Well all I know is what was posted on FB, so yes it is probably a fake then
Lets hope some pictures surface ??
My Coachbuilt friend Richard, have tried to write to Nesmith regarding the car, but didnt get any reply.
Its a shame some people in UK let greed & money decide, when it comes to rare & desireble cars.
This is not just Mins, a friend of mine would never buy a restored Porsche 356 from anyone in UK.
So time for another qustion, are ANY of these cars the original ones ?
I guess the only way to determine this, is if a Heritage certificat is matched to the cars body number, but this is not 100% either,
as most of the cars we discuss here, have the early type, where its stamped into a thick plate = VERY easy to fake/copy
Speaking off, has the later thin type (same look as the FE) with he reverse stamping been copied yet ??
The old article in Practical Classics, had photos from when the Ringo Min was restored, but non taken before it was carried out.
After wards it appears on varius car shows, with the wrong no plate ??? Hmmm

Re: Where is John Lennon's Mini?
I didn't mean Beatles cars particularly Jens. Radfords by their very nature aren't easy to recreate, especially hatch backs, but it is do-able and has been done. There are photos around of Ringo's car before Naylor Bros restored it (when it was blue) as it appeared in the Beatles museum in Liverpool, I always thought it looked pretty convincing.

I agree, not just Raddies, that dark Blue (Black?) auto WP, thats been for sale for years, is also easy to spot.
Dont think any of those Margrave bits belong to it.
I also think the Ringo car looks very right, it was only when the no plate issue came up, my alarm bells went of,
especially with pad4,s post regarding some Beatle Min body part his friend kept, after chopping it up.
I cant think of any body part I wanted to keep, apart from a Raddie Hatch section, maybe a roof, if it had a nice sunroof in it.

Thanks Ian,
and yes I know its a beautifull project, droooled when I saw his pictures at christmas time.
Still hope it gets restored with its original parts (if not, he should sell it to me = LHD )
BRIMKI ,s Raddie Hatch is also to die for
I remember when it was in Steve,s MCR mag columm, a few years back, just found soo nice.
No chance to find any more stuff like this in little DK.

Re: McCartney Mini
Just did a little search, and this came up =
http://www.gadflyonline.com/archive/may ... rtney.html
Apart from being wrong about Jaggers Margrave, and McCartney,s whereabouts, these 2 websites explain the accident in details.
More here =
http://www.beatlesbible.com/features/paul-is-dead/
Quote from the tekst =
" Additionally, on 7 January 1967 McCartney's Mini Cooper was involved in an accident on the M1 motorway outside London, as a result of which it was written off. However, the car was being driven by a friend at the time; McCartney was at a party in Sussex. The driver, who survived the accident, was called Mohammed Hadjij "
So was it rebuilt back then ? the tekst say "written off" this explains the wrong/missing details on the car in USA.

Paul,s window tint looks much more user friendly, compared to Lennon,s which must have been a nightmare, to drive after dark.

Re: Where is John Lennon's Mini?
I had a black Mk1 Mini in the 1970's with fashionable black tinted 'Double Shadowlite' laminated glass as used by 'pop stars' (also fitted in the back of UK Ambulances and London Black Cab rear windows at the time). The windscreen was only Sundym top tint but to see properly at night I had to slide back the side windows! Madness.....but I was young and foolish and black Mini's with black windows were very cool at the time!JC T ONE wrote:georgek wrote:John/Paul Mini pics from the good old days!

Re: Where is John Lennon's Mini?
When I bought my factory black Mk2 Cooper it had what I was later told was a set of Shadowlite windows and a lighter tinted front screen. Apparently they were fitted in the mid 70's. I did refit them after restoring the car but changed them a year or so later as it certainly was a nightmare to see at night.mab01uk wrote:I had a black Mk1 Mini in the 1970's with fashionable black tinted 'Double Shadowlite' laminated glass as used by 'pop stars' (also fitted in the back of UK Ambulances and London Black Cab rear windows at the time).
