1964 austin restoration

Hello everybody!
it's a long time now i 'm reading your posts with pleasure and interest. i first want to thank you all for sharing your experiences. i learned a lot and still have a lot to learn.
i want to present you my lovely 1964 austin seven. i've been searching my dream car for a long time. and i found it 2665km away from home. but it was love at the first sight so i booked a plane and 2 weeks later i drove it back home. i had 4 days. i was quite busy at my job and was wife was, as you can imagine, not very excited with this idea.
the trip was epic. snow, tires, electricity and cold, very cold...
i finally arrived home.
the car is in good shape, not very good but ok. the engine suffered the way home and the driving train are still original!!! only the brakes had been revised short time ago.

The paint on the boot has major crackles.

i slowly started the strip down. i soon realized the car had an accident at the front left angle. the front panel is quite twisted.

hello fabian!
it's a spanish car, coming from Malaga. and i hope it will look as good as in my dreams.

i did a lot of work this week. the boot floor and the front floor on the driver side have been changed. i should still change the passenger side front floor and the sills on both side. and i'm waiting for my new front subframe to change the front panel. i already did the conversion without the outsparing on the side.
pictures of my work are coming.
i also painted my engine. i found a pre A 1293 engine block, prepared by slark race engineering in switzerland!!! it's too bad that SRE has no register on their engines. but the baby still needs some honing and new pistons.
here we are... the car will become a few upgrades... depending on my budget. i have a cooper s remote gearbox needing some attention in my garage. the cylinder head is also painted and ready, a 12g940, but i don't know yet if i will use this one.
my intention is the restore the 850 too and have a second front subframe complete with the 850cc.

i will install a right tank, not to produce a cooper s replica, just for a discrete race touch... the fixings are in place. i will also get some cooper s steel wheels i will paint in the same color as the rest of the car. one color scheme. i still hesitate on the color. the interior should stay as stock as possible.

it will take years...

i ebay a lot at the moment.
i found the engine and some stuff from the guy at minispares.ch.
i ordered the panels in france, because the courier is cheaper than across sea. datch is good.
i'm very happy, i will for sure need your help as i am completely unexperienced. i did my first welding on the boot floor!!! and it was not as bad as expected...
i'm reading a lot here on this forum and everywhere i can. i do this almost compulsively. i dream mini, i wake up mk1, i eat pre verto and so on. my biggest problem is my patience...

i'm looking forward for having the shell healthy. but my holidays are over and i'm very busy with my job. my neighbors won't like when i play with the angle grinder at night.

Looks a lovely project. The race style mods you are planning on doing sound nice. I just hope I can find the car of my dreams After going to mini in the park at the weekend, my 2000 mini cooper doesn't give me the same buzz as my old carb cooper!

it has been a long time now, between family, work and too little space for my mini...
but working on it at night, silently, i finally finished the shell. my little car has now a new boot floor, new driver and passenger floor, new sills, new front face.
