I'd like to know exactly when the washer bottle moved from the inner wing to up against the bulkhead next to the wiper motor. I'm asking because my car is a '65 (dated 1 65 on wipermotor, so probably 64 shell) and my car doesn't have any place to attach the washer bottle bracket against the bulkhead. It does however have two holes on the inner wing.
I bought a mk1 washer bottle from Minispares that I'm trying to operate with a wingard washer pump mounted in the correct place and its not pumping water "uphill" from the inner wing to the jets. I works slightly better when I put the bottle up next to the wiper motor. I think I might have the wrong combination of bits to make it work. Am I right? Should I be using a non-return valve with the bottle mounted on the wing? (in which case I bought the wrong bottle).
Thanks

Re: Washer bottle location and washer jet operation
The water bottle moved up onto the bulkhead long before 1965. All Mini squirter systems need a 1 way valve in the line as the pump isn't actually a pump & have no valves in it at all.
Look on the main MK1 site under the BMC archive / press photo section where you will find a number of images of the underbonnet arrangement of many years of Minis.
I can't set a link as I can no longer access the main MK1 site from work.

Thanks Mark.
Anyone have a picture of the correct non return valve that would be found on a '65 Austin mini?
There are two in this link http://www.minisport.com.au/category31_2.htm Is it one of them?
