Hi All
Can anyone tell me when did the compulsory use of seat belts in the front become law. I have a 1962 Austin Mini Deluxe and it looks like to me that the seat belts may have been fitted later. I know if seat belts are fitted they must be worn however if I took seat belts out and made good the holes in shell floor am I legal to drive on road.
Cheers

1965 is the cut off,not sure which month and I would keep the belts having had a big crash which I walked away from unlike the passenger in the other car!

Two different questions being answered there Smudge...'FITTED' was indeed around 1965, 'Compulsory USE' was I believe early 80's...smudge724 wrote:Hi All

As an aside my late dad had his cars all fitted with them from the late 50's when they became available.
