I am starting to refurb cooper S disc's 7.5 inch, The master cylinder as a hole in the tin ,Its rusty , Can it be repaired ??, If not i was looking at buying a copy one, seen on ebay for around £70 , Question are they any good ????? whats the alterative , apearance is not important,

Hi Goff,
The cans can be soldered but there are a couple of things to consider. The rust damage may not be in just one place and the inside of the can is likely to be very rusty. Rust flakes could easily get to where you don't want them so I think you should probably consider another or new one.
Also, if the can is bad with rust, have you thoroughly checked the condition of the bore? It would not be common for the can to be rusted through and the cylinder to be good in the bore.
