Quarterlight windowgaskets...

Post by sandman »

I'm fitting some polycarbonate windows into the quarterlight windowframes... and the gaskets that go between the "glass" and the frame is rotten as usual... where is the best place to get replacement gaskets?

And while where at it... anyone that supplies a quarterlight windowseal that enables one to actually close the window?
Cheers,

They may not have the seal for between the glass and frame but they should have everything else in the way of seals , extrusions etc.

I have never come across a 1/4 light window seal that fits correctly.

I have very successfully "restored" original ones by carefully smearing a layer of black sikkaflex over the surface of the original rubbers. A messy job, but the results are pretty decent.

I would be most interested to hear of anyone who has secured a decent supply of new 1/4 light seals.

i bought a set from 7enterprises in california usa about 6 years. they fit perfectly.i don't know who they get them from.the door rubber seal was equally fine.the doors close nice and flat and they seal just fine. jw i missed the seals you guys were talking about...i've used the rubber seal that protects the tube from the spoke nipples on bikes.

Originals are my best choice, any repro's are far too heavy in the lip (the lip doesn't sit nicely against the body either) and the frame is more likely to come against the point of the lip than fit inside it. I too have repaired a set of originals by using black urethane and sanding it smooth and to shape. They look quite decent now.
