I have used this method many times with genuine and non genuine mounts and it has worked every time.

ive always done them this way as well, maybe this is why i never have any problems!!
Well, I had cause to try this yesterday and it worked a treat, much much easier than the way I had been doing it, even my good wife recons I had been doing it the wrong way
those mgb trans mounts are a pain.it's easier to take the weight off the trans and remove the crossmember.you usually have to loosen or remove the exhaust also.more work but a lot easier than trying to do them under the car. jw
