I am sure this must have been covered already but are the push rods in a 1071 different to those sue in a 1275 in terms of length?
Thanks

Re: Push rod lengths
Yes, they are shorter as the block isn't as tall as a 1275. Use the same ones from a small bore engine.

Re: Push rod lengths
Having obtained a set of Mini 1000 push rods seems the advice was incorrect , these are not the correct ones. can someone let me know what the various push rod lengths are that exist , I assume there are only two lenghts?

Re: Push rod lengths
There were in fact 3 lengths, and the ones you want and those suggested have only 1/32" difference between them, but the originals are NLA and the small bore ones are now what were last offered for the 1071 / 970 engines are also common with the small bore engines.
Are you finding those obtained too long or too short and by how much (approx)?
Has the cam been re-ground?
Have the Cam Followers been re-ground?
Has the block been decked?
Has the head been deck?
<EDIT> This is what Somerfords suggest http://www.somerfordmini.co.uk/eshop/in ... ts_id=6758 <END EDIT>

Re: Push rod lengths
ive always used std small bore push rods in my 1071 engines and bar the odd bit of rocker post shimming they are the correct length.
if they are the wrong length, it would suggest that the engine in question has been built from 'unique' parts!
