intermittent flasher ooh er mrs!

Post by cookie1071 »

ok guys, need your help - a friend has a problem with the 'flasher' on the end of the indicator stalk in his early mini van, which only gives one good flash in either direction. he's tried three different flasher units and the indicators themselves work OK. any ideas?

Does he KNOW for sure that the replacement flasher units are working properly? There have been a LOT of faulty ones on the market ;) . Can he try a flasher unit on a similar car to test it first?

Of course the older flasher units would only give one good flash if there is only one turn signal lamp working. Therefore one would suggest that -one- lamp is not working on each side. (and the other would flash very quickly)

Thanks for the replies fellas. ;) I've been assured that all the indicators are working as they should so i guess the next thing is to try fitting a flasher that is known to work. Any suggestions as to what the problem might be in the meantime would nevertheless be much appreciated. Cheers.
