How do you remove the sliding front side windows

Post by smudge724 »

Hi all can someone tell me how to remove the front side sliding windows, one side opens but stiff the other is jammned close, think the bottom weather strip has broken down on both. The mini is a super delux built in 1962.

This is going to make the whole thing sound easy !! Slide both back windows forward, locate and remove some small countersunk screws in the bottom of the channels. There are possibly two or three. Now, close those windows, open the front ones and repeat the process. Slide a putty knife along and under the chrome channel, pry the chrome channel strip loose and move it away and out from the door frame (complete with the glasses). Be careful, it may come all of a sudden and the glasses could drop.

Regards
Al

The screws will be hard to locate and hard to remove. They are Phillips head and probably fill of rust, maybe not much left of the heads. It's not a nice job to do and usually requires much perseverance.

Good Luck !!

All the above - but easier with door removed from car and placed upside down. That way the glass doesn't fall when the bottom rail is moved out of the frame..

Cheers, Ian
