good evening. i am an avid mini fan and own several minis at present. i was going through some parts that i have which have become surplus, as most owners i am a collector of mini parts!
anyway when looking through some big vavle cylinder heads i came across one that i believe has been modded by oselli engineering.
a quick glance and it looks to have big valves, worked chambers, double valve springs, its very nicely ported. the casting is an early 9 stud 12g940
near to the thermostat is stamped OE 73 240
the head looks to be in fairly good condition. it looks to be painted (maybe original) a blueish/green colour.
i picked it up several years ago from an old chap clearing out some a series performance parts. when i got it home i re oiled the machined faces, which has preserved the head. i didnt really notice the markings at the time
anyway, i guess what im looking for is more details on this spec head. does anyone know what the original spec was when worked, when it would have been roughly done etc?
also does this head have any value?
i hope someone here can shed some light on this item
many thanks, dan
oselli cylinder head
Re: oselli cylinder head
Looking at the Oselli spec sheet on this web site it looks like an OE 73 head is a stage one 1300GT or MK3S head.

Re: oselli cylinder head
thanks, thats a great help. i know different firms consider different head work to be at different 'stages' these days, how might the oselli stage1 head that i have compare tipically with todays 'staging' of heads?
does this head or indeed any other old oselli items have any value?
many thanks, dan

Re: oselli cylinder head
It appears that Oselli Stage 1 was a ported and polished head with standard valve sizes.
For more info on the Oselli head look in this old catalogue

As for possible value that would depend on condition. I've seen Oselli rocker covers and manifolds fetch good money on Ebay, but I have not seen an Oselli head sold before.

Re: oselli cylinder head
thanks for assisting me with this. the head really is suprisingly clean looking. i would go as far to say that it would probably be ok to bolt onto an engine without stripping the head down first.
i am away this week and next, i will try to get some pictures up when im back to see what people think.
thanks again, dan

Re: oselli cylinder head
Hi Dan,
The head certainly has a value, I would imagine that somewhere in the low hundreds would not be too far off the mark. But if you were to put it on ebay, who would know where it could end up.
It's certainly a very nice find.
