Homologation papers

Post by LMM76C »

Full marks to this site for the section showing homologation papers, where copies have been donated. Very useful on several occasions.
Looking at the section in connection with the thread on 998 Cooper homologation (the copy of which unfortunately does not have many legible dates), I noticed a couple of headings for the 1275 S that could do with being clarified.

The second set of 1275 S papers shown is headed "Submitted June 66". I'm not sure where the June date comes from. It may be a misreading of "Jan" 66 applicability in the poor copy typical of all such papers (there were times when it helped for the copy to be very poor...). These are the papers for the new Appendix J for 1.1.66. (required in January 66 for competing in the 66 Monte in Group 1).
The third set is headed "Submitted 1970". This would actually be a copy (printed off in 1970) that includes all amendments to the original papers up to the date this copy was printed. It may or may not include all 1970 amendments, depending on when it was printed.
It is the same "papers" as the second copy (see the FIA number), just a copy with later amendments. They were not "submitted" in 1970 or any other date after 66 as complete papers. Individual amendments were.
As far as I am aware, there were amendments up to and including 1971 to these 1275 S papers. An end of 71 copy would therefore include all the amendments ever made and be the "definitive " papers.
All papers for purchase by competitors etc. were printed by the RAC, as the National body, rather than the FIA itself (and were religiously embossed on every page, despite the crap standard of copying...)
The first set, of course, were the original 1275 S papers under the "old" (up to 31.12.65.) Appendix J, superseeded by the second set.
When time permits, I'll attempt to list all the (original type) Mini papers with numbers. (ought to be a piece of cake...try getting your head round all the rwd Escort papers.....!)
