62 Saloon original wheel color

Post by my62 »

Hello
Can someone tell me the correct color for the steel wheels
as originally supplied on my 1962 MK1 Saloon.
Cheers

They would have been on off-white. People generally use Old English White now which makes sense. I think the wheels were supplied ready painted by Dunlop who probably used whatever shade they had at the time.

I agree with the above. The wheel paint WAS NOT OEW. It was a creamy off white. When I get them powder coated I always ask for "Landrover Wheel" Cream. This is much darker than OEW.

dunlop used almost any white they could get cheap
ive got 6 different rims in 6 different shades, all in original coatings
some are cream, some are almost fridge white
the thickness of the paint on the rim varies considerably too,,one has almost no paint on it at all
