Widened 10 x 7 cooper s rims what tyres?
Hi just purchased a Aussie spec mk1 1967 cooper s
The car looks very standard and sits on a nicely refurbished set of cooper s steel rims with hub caps. The seller has also given me a set of 10 x 7 wide cooper s steel rims. They need a repaint but have been widened very well. He has also supplied a set of original Very wide wheels arches (wider than Mk2 Flares) and metal supports.
Question if i was to change the rims What tyre size is available for a 10 x 7 ?
Thanks

the only tyres you could safely fit on a 7x10 wheel would be a race slick or wet.
im not aware of any road leagal tyre that is listed to fit a 7 x 10

You could get away with 165 tyres but be a bit of strech on them I got 10 x 6's on 165 and they are fine but over sized to be fair but look fine you're allowed a bit of strech but not alot!
nip down tyre shop and fit on see what its like and if its safe by the tyre shop then run 165 tyres

165/70 maximum recommended rim width is generally considered to be 5.5" - 6"
i doubt any tyre fitter would sensibly advise that it was safe to run on a 7" rim, not when people are so quick to get the 'legals' out nowdays
ive seen them fitted onto a 7" and they do look very odd

Do what the dubbers do and sand off the "For Racing Use Only".
Cut slicks will be expensive.
You could look at some Ifor Williams high speed trailer tyres. 195/55/10 etc

should you really give 'advice' like this out on a public forum?
a vosa tug on a car with any of the above would be a expensive and painful experience for the driver, never mind the implications of an accident caused by running unsuitable tyres.

Just have to ask where are you measuring 7" from inside the rim or the lip where wheel weights goevoconvert wrote:Hi just purchased a Aussie spec mk1 1967 cooper s

Hi measurements from outside lip to lip
overall width. Inside beaded area maybe 1/2 inch (max) narrower.
I would love to run them if i can get appropriate fitment.
Looking to keep to retro look but much fatter.

Try contacting GB's Mini and Moke World in Brookvale, Sydney. Ultra-wide banded wheels were their trademark, they put them on all of their cars, so they must know what tyres can be fitted to them.

Intheshed,
those trailer tyres arnt high speed!!!

I think they will be commercial tyres which means the side walls contain more steal bands to take the extra wieght used in trailers and commercial vans etc. I doubt very much they would stretch, there extremely tough!
