10" tyre choice - roadlegal
Re: 10" tyre choice - roadlegal
Dunlop 165/70 x 10 SP Super tyres were excellent in the early 1980's, shit on a blanket in the dry, then. Very sticky, for a road tyre.

Dunlop Sp supers were a good tyre dont confuse with the Dunlop Sp Sports Aquajet as in the picture, these are truly bad in most conditions!

Re: 10" tyre choice - roadlegal
I've now driven one weekend with CR65s on my road car on original Cooper S wheels. Absolutely hopeless. The tyre walls are so stiff, that the car just darts everywhere. The suspension is not absolutely correct set up, but I need modern radials
Do you guys know if the R7s are much better comfortwise? If not I'll just buy some cheap 145 ones...
I saw some Frog munchers using these on Brands Hatch and it even looked as if the R7s performed OK on track.

Yes R7's (with the right pressures) are great on track and great on the road though do wear quicker than most road tyres ( but with any sticky tyre you can't have your cake an eat it !) Whether they're worth the extra wonga over a 008 for example is just down to personal choice.

Something is weird with the UKs pricing of the R7, as out here at the end of Africa, they are half the price of the A008.

I also found that fitting A032R's transformed my Mini, it doesn't have the power of yours being a tuned 998 HL, but the performance of these tyres, particularly in the wet is astounding. I run them on the old 5" X 10" Alleycat Mambas with 1.5 degrees negative on the front & 0.5 degree neg on the back. Even down to 1.9mm tread, I have had no nasty moments in all this rain & standing water.Matty wrote:I'd say the 032R are the best. I had the A008s for years and always struggled with grip. As soon as I I fitted the 032Rs it was a completely different car and my 60fts on the 1/4 mile dropped by 0.7 of a second.![]()
Suprisingly they seem better in the wet too, despite almost being a semislick,. The only reason I kept with the A008s for so long is because I was concerned about the 032Rs in the wet. With my current engine spec im expecting to it to be well over the 200bhp mark and they doing very well to keep wheel spinning to a minimum. lol
I have to be very aware when I drive any other vehicle in the rain.
To Sean 1380: There's something weird with the pricing of a lot of stuff in the UK, I think it's known as 'rip off' Britain!
