When were these discontinued?

I have one that came with a 62 project ( among a few other 3.5" wheels ).

Won't be using it....just curious...thanks.

While I'm here.
This 62 has three point belts ( CA market car ). They are Britax stamped at the buckle.
Were these the normal belts in 62....or just for the NA market? Maybe the US was diferent also. ( UK cars just had lap belts ? )

UK cars didn't have anything, except the belt mounts. Belts did not have the be fitted from new till the early 70s.

I have a may 62 basic, which has 3bpoint britax seat belts with buckets, grey straps not sure is they are 100% standard but they sound the same as what your talking about, this is a uk car.

For riveted wheels I don't know, I have a funny feeling that mine may of but I sold them off years ago, so can't remember. They were very rusty so would not like to trust them

The belts sound the same....fairly heavy grey straps.
They would have been mandatory here at that time I believe. The fact that they are 3 point though is interesting.
Also , there is a holding clip on either side of the car.... to hold the slack of the belts I presume.

Fitting of seatbelts became mandatory in the UK on Jan 1st 1695, before then as has been said they were not compulsory. Although the mounting had to be in place by about 1962 (I'm not exactly sure when).

Most oif the seatbelts fitted in cars that had them, even back into the 50's were the traditional 3 point lap & diagonal type, simple lap belts although available & in use were never THAT common.

The 2 seatbelt suppliers used by BMC were Kangol & Britax, I have no real evidence to support this but it appears that Britax were the preferred supplier as I have seen far more sets of Britax belts than I have Kangol ones.

My 62 only had the diagonal and the pillar mount was 2 coachbolts and a chrome slide

Its very unusual for a 62 car not to have the usual "high" seatbelt mounts!

If you need to fit a mount for a shoulder belt to the pillar the accepted method is to use a "barrel bolt", from the outside with a conventional 7/16" UNF seat belt bolt on the inside.
